If you have been charged with driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol in Connecticut and you have previously been convicted of the same charge within the last 10 years, your punishment may include lengthy jail time, large fines and loss of your driver's license.

A felony DUI charge may arise if you have been in a car accident that caused the death of another individual. These charges are very serious and may result in a wrongful death case or an assault with a motor vehicle charge.
If you are convicted of multiple DUI offenses within 10 years of your first drunk driving conviction, the punishment you could face include:
- For a second DUI Conviction: a fine between $1,000 and $4,000; a minimum of 120 days in jail with the possibility of up to 2 years in prison; 100 hours possible community service; and 3 years of driver's license suspension.
- For a third DUI Conviction: a fine between $2,000 and $8,000; a mandatory jail sentence of one year with the possibility of 3 years in prison; 100 hours mandatory community service; and the permanent loss of your license
We Have The Knowledge Necessary To Defend You
By working with the prosecutor to negotiate on your behalf, the attorneys at Berman & Russo may be able to have the charges you are facing reduced. Even if you are charged with multiple offenses for a DUI, we can work to keep your driver's license from being suspended. Drivers in Connecticut may be allowed to continue driving if they qualify for an ignition interlock device. If you qualify, this device can keep you driving and allow you to continue driving to your job or other essential locations.
In the event that you are convicted, we can work to minimize your sentence. Many of our clients are permitted to serve community service in lieu of jail time. The multiple DUI defense lawyers at Berman & Russo know the defense you need. Contact us online or call 860-644-1548 for a free consultation.
